Terms of Service

Last updated 16 October 2026
Short version: Aptly is a software tool that helps you improve your résumé and prepare applications. You keep your data. It runs in your browser. AI output can be wrong and is not advice or a guarantee. The free tier is free; the Job Search Pass is one payment for 90 days of extra use, with no automatic renewal. If it is not working for you, see our Refund Policy.

1. Who we are

Aptly is operated by Dunwell Studio ("Aptly", "we", "us"). You can reach us at [email protected]. These terms form the agreement between you and us when you use Aptly at tryaptly.app.

2. Using Aptly

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Aptly for your own job search and career preparation. You agree not to:

3. Your content stays yours

Your résumé, job postings, notes and application data are yours. Aptly stores them in your browser on your device, not on our servers. When you use an optional AI feature, the text needed for that request is sent to the selected AI provider to be processed. Read our Privacy Policy for the detail. You are responsible for keeping your own backups: clearing your browser data, or moving to another browser or device, means that data does not come with you.

4. AI output, honestly described

Aptly uses AI models to score and suggest rewrites. That output can be wrong, incomplete or misjudged. It is a starting point for your own judgement, not a statement of fact about how any employer will see you.

5. Free tier and the Job Search Pass

Aptly has a free tier with usage limits on the most expensive features. The Job Search Pass is a one-time payment in Canadian dollars that unlocks higher usage for 90 days.

6. Third-party services

Aptly uses third parties to provide parts of the service: AI model providers for optional features, a job-search data provider, and web analytics. Those services have their own terms, and their availability affects ours.

7. Availability and changes

Aptly is in active development. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Where we remove a feature you have paid to use, we will offer a fair remedy, which may include a refund or credit.

8. Liability

To the extent the law allows, Aptly is provided "as is" and we exclude implied warranties of fitness and merchantability. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost opportunities, lost applications, lost data or lost income. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $19. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that cannot be limited by law.

9. Ending this agreement

You may stop using Aptly at any time. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms or use the service in a way that creates risk for us or for other people.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes will be dealt with in the courts of British Columbia.

11. Changes to these terms

If we make a material change to these terms we will update the date above and, where the change affects paid access, tell you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Aptly after a change means you accept the updated terms.
